Side Mounted Scope Question

Howdy All,

I would like to mount a scope to the side of the receiver and just wanted to know if any of you have done this and if you like it or not?

I found this mount -> NcStar Ruger Mini 14 Weaver Receiver Side Scope Mount - eBay (item 110502005691 end time Apr-01-10 23:01:35 PDT)

It says there's no gunsmithing required, but I just can't see how it mounts to the receiver.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm actually setting mine up as a semi race gun right now using a 45 degree mount and a nc star ddab.. this allows me to rotate the rifle 45 degrees for closer targets using the ddab (reflex) and return to normal firing position for longer targets useing my optics.. ill post pics when it all comes in

I've seen that before, but here's the problem for me...

I have a carry handle on top (pure aesthetics) and would like to have a scope mounted next to it.

Any suggestions to make that work?

Personally id dump the carry handle but if u like it they make mounts for carry handles to mount ur optics on top of it... chattanoogaphil uses that setup..you could still run a 45 and a reflex for back up.. the options r endless for these little guns

Do you already have an optic mounted atop the carry handle? What is the entire setup you're trying to achieve?

i don't know if that mounts to picatinny or weaver rails. i believe it mounts to the side of a mini 14 receiver via a bolt.
