SIG 1911

I looked at some today, they look nice but does anyone here have experience with them? I looked at the Nitron both 4 inch and full size and the c3.

Yes, I have had a Sig 1911. I don't own it now, not because of any problem, but because I trade a lot, and often regret a lot. That SIG was one I regret letting go of. Anyway, I think SIG makes very good pistols (I have a SIG P229R in 9mm) despite the purists disdain for the external extractor (S&W also uses an external extractor.) The good thing about 1911s is that there is a lot of aftermarket parts for them, and you can use other brand magazines and not just SIG brand, which tend to be very expensive...but then, what isn't these days? I prefer to use Wilson ETMs in my 1911s.

I had (have) my eye on a SIG 1911. Don't know which model but it has a pictinny rail. It was sold new and traded in one month later (or sold back). I can get it for $880 otd. I keep telling myself I don't need another 1911. I have a Rock Island Armory 2011 (rail gun) with night sights and a sweet 3# trigger. It is a real shooter. Right now i don't have anything I am itching to part with and i really don't want to part with the cash. (I have over $7000 in medical bills to pay this year).

I know TX Dept of Public Safety SWAT issues the Sig Tactical 1911.

One of the officers where I work has his eye on the same gun.

While I have no time behind one, the few officers I have encountered with them, all had no issues or complaints.

bought a full size with target sights when they first came out. at that time there was no mention of them being the 80 series type guns.it wouldn't even feed rn for the 200rds. the solution offered by sig was to just keeping shooting it until it works. i never got it to feed a full mag with anything after 1000 rds and tried 15 different mags. gave up and got rid of it,finally. have a number of real sigs and they run fine.

They generally don't fit in the standerd 1911 molded holsters, the slide is a fraction wider. Seem to be reliable, and it is a Sig.

My son is a sheriff's deputy and he has one of the railed versions. No problems at all, and he's very happy with it. Finding holsters can be a problem, though, especially for the railed guns.

I just got one that came in the TAC PAC and like it well enough. Only 50 rd through it so far, but runs great.

Rent/Borrow one and shoot it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have been looking at both SIGs and the new Colt 1911s lately. I am not sure why.

I see a lot of complaints about the SIG 1911s on their forum, but I think there is a certain resentment among some that SIG bothered to put its hand to the 1911 market, for some reason...

These days, when I buy a 1911, one of my first thoughts is who will give me the best CS if I should need it. (In the past, it was not uncommon to need CS with Cxxx 1911s.) I think S&W may be the champion in the customer service department. On the other hand, the new Colt guns sure look nice...

Are you at all concerned with resale value, or is this likely to be a keeper? In terms of resale, based on what I see locally, I think SIG 1911s may be something of a problem. Doesn't mean they aren't decent guns.

I looked at SIGs, and Springfileds yesterday and I did glance at the SIG MK 25 too. At Shooter's they have been pushing sigs for awhile. They did have some para ordnance too.

I have a Tacops 1911 with rail. It's a quality 1911 that is very accurate. I think they are a real value for the money, very high quality at a lower cost than other "quality" brands. If I got another it would be one of the Traditional models with the rounded slide contour. Holsters are limited due to the shape of their regular slide being more "Sig like". This gun is extremely accurate and 100% reliable, which makes it a keeper. If you're in the market for a 1911 give a long look at Sig.
