Sig 226 versus Sig 2022?

SP2022 is a great gun and a excellent value at around $400 it is however very different than the P226 in terms of its trigger. It has a very smooth but long DA trigger pull. Think revolver here. It is not the same as P series triggers found on the P226, standard or SRT, which is what most people are used to when talking about Sig.

I own both and shoot both well if I could only have one I would get the P226.

I've had similar first hand experience. Given the difference in frame, decoker, trigger shoe...

SP2022 v.s. Standard P226 = Similar enough to me to not really matter. Trigger on Standard P226 slightly better.

SP2022 v.s. P226 with Short Reset Trigger & Short Reach Trigger = P226 wins every single time.

P226 + short reset trigger + short reach trigger + E2 grip = winner winner chicken dinner.

It all depends upon what you want to do with it. I've got several "utility" pistols then I've got a few classics. My KG 1996 P226 is one of my classics.

FWIW, I found the P229 thick bulky and heavy in 9 or .40 due to the beefed up frame over its cousin the P228, remade as the M11A1. The P228/M11 have a shorter barrel and little bit shorter grip. I would prefer to carry the P228 over the P226 after carrying both.

Just my opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it.

I have a 228 and had a 226. Same gun just shortened right!!!! For some reason 228 grip doesn't work for me. The grip panels dig into my thumb. No such problems with the 226
