The SIG P220 in 9mm Parabellum has been the Swiss Army sidearm since 1975, hence designated as the P75 by the army. It replaced the P210 / P49. I was also widely used by police forces across the country, and a good number were built for civilian and sport use. As the Swiss used the 7.65 mm Parabellum cartridge previously in the Swiss Luger, it has remained a popular caliber ever since.

I recently found a nice / almost new P220 in this caliber

The early models had a ridge on the top front of the slide. They are locally referred to as « butt crack » models.

Congratulation on finding a beautiful example of the P220 is what is a rather rare chambering here in America

In America we call those early ones bottle nosed, but I like your term better.

I became an instant fan of the P220 when I fired my first one back in the late 70s.

Thank you again for sharing. Very, very, nice collection. I really appreciate it.

I wish I could travel to your gun store and mail back here to the US. :D:)

Yeah don't see many in anything but .45ACP and the occasional oldster in 9mm. I know there are some .38 Supers out there too. I am not even sure any .30 Luger guns were imported to the US.

These old slide guns are great. I'd love to find one with just the circular SIG marking.

Very nice. I once was interested in getting a Beretta 98 in 7.65x21 Parabellum, but they're extremely rare so I ultimately gave it up. It's a shame that so many fascinating cartridges have faded into obscurity. These high velocity, bottlenecked pistol cartridges have a lot of advantages over traditional straight-walled pistol cartridges from enhanced reliability, muzzle energy, penetration, etc and they come back periodically but never quite catch on.

I've been looking for a Beretta 98 for years. My son and I are planning a trip to Italy next year. If I find one in Italy, how do I legally import it?

The guns I gather are like vanilla ice (stop and shop house brand) in comparison....
