with Romeozero Elite red dot.

The firearm looks and feels like a real winner. I love the trigger pull on it... Almost like single action. First shots will come tomorrow. I expect nothing less than complete satisfaction.

Now for the red dot... It stinks!!! What was Sig thinking with it's design? The sole button to access the features is almost up against the glass under the hood. It is extremely difficult to turn on which makes it next to impossible to access the controls to change any of it's features. I wrestled with it for almost 2 hours with no luck changing anything. You also have to remove the sight to change the battery.

I looked to see if Sig had other better models but didn't see any that would fit this model handgun. A lot of YouTube videos raved about the Holosun 507k red dot on their P365. I immediately purchased one to have sometime this week. All of the controls are easily accessible. The battery sits in a tray accessible on the right side.

I bought the P365 with red dot installed as a package deal so the red dot shouldn't be returnable to Sig.

Who has a P365 380acp and what do you think about it?

I have a 365 and a 365XL with Holosun 507 sight, both have thumb safetys and like them both a lot! The smaller 365 has an excellent trigger but the larger gun is not too bad. The Holosun sight works great once you get use to it, you have to be careful that your left thumb doesn't hit the dimmer switch during recoil but the "instant on" and the big "circle and dot" sight work great!

I’m wondering why you chose the .380? Isn’t the 9mm the same size and cheaper to shoot? I’m going back n forth on a 365 or Hellcat. I like Hellcat but don’t like that it’s made in Croatia.

I chose the P365 in .380 because I like to shoot. I have several firearms in 380ACP and they're all accurate and a blast to shoot.

I have the Hellcat in 9MM and a SA XDS in 45ACP. Both are pretty much the same size as the P365. They're accurate but not fun to shoot for any long period. Shorter barrel leads to more recoil. It's harder for me to get back on target considering I only shoot 5" Shoot-N-See targets.

Just now finding out they made a P365 in 380.

My 9mm P365 is my all time favorite EDC.

I don't carry but for home defense I have the 5906 ready to go along with plenty of extra mags. Hardly any recoil and is DA/SA.

I also like the "shock and awe" that my PMR30 provides if I start unloading 30rds of Hornady Varmint in an intruders direction.

I wasn’t impressed with the factory sight either. Luckily with the modularity of the P365 you can buy a standard slide and have it milled for a better choice.

My understanding with the P365 is there are multiple mounting plates available to allow nearly any red dot to be used. I have the original P365 with just iron sights, and find it one of them most ergonomically made handguns. It feels like an extension of my hand. I stay with the open sights for any of my defense handguns, I realize the dependability of the dot sights by now, but still won't take the chance of a dead battery on the time I need it. I do have red dots on several target guns.

While I’m sure it will be a fine seller for Sig, it’s odd to me they’d mfg the 365 in .380 and not try and scale it down a bit more?

My issue isn't with the iron sights on the P365 but rather the RomeoZero red dot that came with it.

The Holosun 507K X2 is a "drop in" red dot with no modifications needed. Unlike the RomeoZero the Holosun's features are easy to access as well as easy to use.

The Holosun has a sleep mode with multiple times that it will shut off if there's no movement. It comes set at 10 minutes but if you CC it wont shut off unless you manually do it.

The Holosun has a low profile that allows you to co-witness the iron sights so if the battery dies you can keep going.

Below are some pics I took. Sorry for the low light.

380 is for the kids to learn shooting, not to carry

It might not be considered a carry gun but break into my house and I'll show you what a mag dump of 16 rounds feels like.

Don't ever underestimate what any firearm can do in the hands of an experienced gun owner.

Personally, I specialize in head shots.

Sig have pulled this gag before with the P250 in 380. By keeping the same size slide they can fit a weaker recoil spring and make the gun really easy to rack. My wife loves hers.

Ditto your thoughts on the Romeo Zero. Holosun 407k and be done with it, or irons if thats your jam.

I like the co-witness you’re getting with the Holosun. I installed extra tall X-rays on mine and they just barely clear the RMRcc. I have many Trijicon products and they all have performed stellar, however I’ve heard nothing but good things about Holosun. Maybe it’s time I try one.

Youtube is a great place to research things.

I've watched guys take a dremel tool to install a particular red dot. Some red dots require the removal of the rear iron sight. I'm glad I kept looking.

Not to start any argument here, but while I do own a Colt .380 acp Model M Pocket Pistol, I don't think I'd ever use it as a defensive handgun unless I had no other choice. I also own a P365 in 9mm and think it's the cat's meow and has been my EDC for 4 years now.

Originally the whole idea Sig that perfected was to put a powerful 9mm cartridge into a .380 sized carry gun. They did an incredible industry changing job on that. Don't really understand why someone would want to go backwards but that's just one man's opinion. To each his own.

I don't know about others here, but after shooting over 3,800 rounds through my Sig P365 I have never felt that the recoil was objectionable - and that includes shooting +P's on occasion. In fact, my P365 immediately replaced my trusted long time M60-7 as my EDC. Now the M60-7 with Buffalo Bore 158 grain +P's was a handful! I did not choose to install rubber grips on the small revolver because they are not pocket carry friendly. So without recoil absorbing grips - the M60-7 got shot less and less as I got older - not a good thing for a carry gun - constant practice is essential. Hence the switch to what I consider a mild recoiling gun - the 9mm P365. Again, that's just my personal opinion and my intent is not to ruffle feathers here - just posting my personal opinion.

Sig came out with the P365 .380acp as an alternative to the original 9mm version for those people who have difficulty racking the slide. The .380 recoil spring is lighter enough than the 9mm recoil spring to make a significant difference when racking the slide. Arthritis, diminished strength and physical limitations as we get older can be an issue, and for some people the .380 version might be a better option than the 9mm. They kept the profile of the gun the same size for holster compatibility with the 9mm version. If they made the P365 .380acp smaller, the recoil spring would have to be shorter and heavier which would defeat the whole purpose.

While .380acp might not be everybody’s first choice as a defensive caliber, for some it’s the best choice due to strength issues. At the end of the day it’s not the size of the caliber you carry, it’s being able to put bullets in a good and effective place to stop a threat.
