Sight for CORE?

Which sight do you recommend for the 9mm Long CORE? Too many choices:)

I've got over 40K rounds on a Leupold Deltapoint. Only problem is that they are not making them right now, I hear that they will be offering the classic Deltapoint and the Deltapoint Pro at some point next year. The classic model can be had from places like Ebay and Gunbroker. After seeing and hearing of problems that other brands are having, I wouldn't use anything else. But that's just my opinion.

After trying a bunch I put the RMR on mine. I still have the MRDS but it doesn't co-witness. My instructor partner is a Homicide Detective who has survived 6+ shootouts, he recently attended Suarez'z class on using optics and using the co-witnessing sights is used in several drills for several reasons. One is to quickly find the red dot, another is when your dot goes out. (I guarantee the Murphy will raise his ugly head when you least expect it)

I have the dual -illumination trijicon with a green dot RM05 Its a 9 inch dot but at 100 yards , that's 2 1/4" at 25 yards. It offers the same dot you would have in very dark condition with the night sight "dot " and fiberoptic "dot" the rest of the time. For me I found the green to be preferred with fiber optic used in my revolvers front sight so figure to give it a try. The amber color can be hard to see under some conditions like when moving from dark into light conditions and can be very bright i9n direct sun light for some. Jerry Miculek had one that he put black tap on to tone it down for sunny days . Not so with the green , its always good and for me , never to bright. I do use smaller dots , red dots on my hunting revolvers , 2moa dots there as longer 100yard shoots my happen . The trijicon serves as both a CC and as a fun and match pistol .

Posted this over on another M&P forum:

Figuring out which optic to go with for my Performance
Center 9mm has been a real task.

Obvious choices are the Leupold Deltapoint and the Trijicon
RMR, but both are very expensive. I started to look at the
Burris Fastfire sites, but in the end decided to go with the
Deltapoint... or so I thought.

Turns out no one had any in stock and several sites are
showing them as discontinued. I think Leupold is holding
off making any more in preparation for the new "Pro".
The problem with the Pro though, is that it's tall and will
not co-witness with the iron sights. That's why I wanted
the older model, even with it's quirks (battery on the
bottom, no way to tighten the set screws without bending
the wrench or removing the sight).

I did find a great price at Opticsplanet and with the Black
Friday deal they had, I was at $395 shipped. They said they
had an order coming in the next week. Well that was on
December 3rd and they still don't have any and I cancelled
that order because I don't think they'll get any.

So back to the Burris Fastfire sights... I know the III fits
just fine, but it's tall and doesn't co-witness with the iron
sights. Some will say that doesn't matter, but for me, I
wanted that option. So after confirming that the II (2) model
would fit with the mounting plate type 5 with the Doctor
screws, I went with the Fastfire II.

It's lower profile than the 3 and sits much like the older
model Deltapoint does. It's a 4 MOA dot which should be
big enough and comes with a cover that fits snugly over
the optic. I'm not sure why the 3 only comes with a shade
cover.

Yes the battery is on the bottom, but it should last a good
long time and has an easy to reach on/off switch on the
left side. I sighted in with the optic on the gun, then removed
it and tightened the set screws. Zero held fine after remount.

So for those of you looking for a cheaper option, there are
Fastfire 2's out there. I paid $179 at Amazon with free 2 day
shipping. I really like the look of the II and I'm happy with
the purchase. I'll be shooting it tomorrow and will let you know
how it holds up.

Hope this helps some others in the same situation.

Greg

Hi after trying a Chinese sight from Victor at Night Vision and an Insight MRDS I decided to go with the RMR MR4. It does everything I want. I will mount the other sights on rifle optics to use as a quick red dot.
