“Bob” the 586 might get a bobbed and shaved barrel, which would lop off the front sight. Considering similar idea for a model 13. Are there any options for a replacement sight that don’t require milling?

I’m going to be silver-soldering something onto a Charter Arms, but I think the original was also silver-soldered. I’d be interested in hearing about sources for barrel-band type sights.

Most S&W options I’ve heard of involve the orig sight base, so not much help in a barrel chop.

I had mine dovetailed for a novak front sight. Unfortunately I think silver solder is the only way without machine work.
The novak does give you a bunch of options tho.

Thanks for thinking of me, Shotgun Coach. Much appreciated.

I make a sight base that would work for the 586 to use Classic style sights. All I have are stainless steel ones for 686. If you don't mind the different color. This would require machining to mount it, though.

These would not work for a M13 because the fixed sight guns have a much lower front sight. A sight for the M13 would require machining as well, either a dovetail or a keyway cut and pin hole.

A barrel replacement of the desired length would not require machining.
