Sigma 40F Magazine Compatibility

I use Sigma 40F 15 round mags exclusively in my SD 40, no issues. Love the extra round.

I own a 40F, 40V, SD40 and use them all interchangeably. My brother has the 40E and uses them in his. I also use the 9F mags in my SD9.

When I first tested to see if 40F 15 round mags would fit, I inserted and removed them empty. Today at range, I was inserting 40F 15 round loaded mags with slide open, then releasing slid to chamber. Got home and went to insert a loaded 40F 15 round mag into the SD40VE with the slide home and found an "issue" ... you have to slap the mag like it insulted your Mother's coleslaw to get it to seat. I tried a few and same result. I'm borderline comfortable with how hard you have to smack the 40F 15 round loaded magazine so I'll have to research and think about it more.

Thoughts ???

It is just a bit tight with where the base plate hits the bottom of the frame. I think someone else already mentioned taking the base plate off and sanding the top of it so it clears the bottom of the gun. Should fix you right up if it bothers you. Or you could sand the bottom of the gun where it hits, but I prefer modifying the mag over a gun.

As for holsters, most of the ones I have tried, the Sigma, SD and M&P guns fit each others holsters. I can see maybe if one is tight it might be an issue with another model, but mine all fit fine that I have tried.

Modified The 40F Magazines - Sander

FIXED ... I took the base plates off the 40F magazines and then ran a sander across the tops of the base plates to remove enough of the baseplate that it would easily seat into the 40SD without any slapping. Of course I stippled the plastic base plates ... here in Tampa, everything sweaty, easier to grab. The 40F is on the left, 40SD on the right

What is the rest of the story on the Sigma 40? Did S&W replace it? Repair it?

I have a SW9F and a SD9VE. The magazines are interchangeable between both guns without a problem. Don't even need to modify thr SW9F floor plate.

SW40f mags

I posted in the forum and they moved it to Sigma. Which is here somewhere.
I ordered a Sig p226 mag 40 S&W/357 sig 12 round it did not fit.
Pistol would not chamber from the mag.

What specific model do I need or should I just bail on this pistol. [It came with no mag as a inherited item. ] I dont really need it, was thinking of trading it in for a few bucks.

The SIG P226 and the Smith & Wesson SW40f Sigma are totally different firearms from totally different manufacturers. The magazines are not interchangeable

You are correct, your post was moved to the Sigma Section (which incidentally is where this thread is) and you were given a link to exactly where it is. In case you missed it, here it is again: Magazines 40F
Posting in a four-year-old thread makes people read through a lot stuff before they get to your question/issue. A new thread avoids that.
