I have a sigma 9mm and it shoots great and I like it alot but the dealers around here that I have spoken with are not real familiar with them. I was wondering if you can purchase a longer barrel for them? Also are there any trigger upgrades to loosen the trigger pull? Thank you.

I'm not aware of any longer aftermarket barrels for the Sigmas. As far as the trigger goes, there are instructions up here on the forum on how to "improve" the pull, but I don't think that they add a whole lot until you start messing with springs (which brings about reliability issues). The trigger on my SW9VE had a very smooth pull right from the factory due to those (much hated) MIM parts - I did a S&W equivalent to the "Glock 25-cent trigger job" prior to shooting it, and my only complaint is that the pull is quite heavy. No way to change that w/o possibly affecting ignition, so I left it alone.

The trigger on my SW40VE (you reckon VE means "value edition"?

) has lightened up a good bit. It was never really a problem as I'd always shot double action revolvers. The Sigma was my first auto-loader.

I actually like the trigger heavy. It seems safer carrying with one in the pipe. It isn't going off accidentally, period.

Shoot it a lot. Dry fire it. You'll learn to manage the trigger. I actually shoot mine better than a friends M&P I tried.

All the Best,
D. White

VE= Version Enhanced The enhancement sure as heck wasn't the trigger assembly as my Sigma 9F has a much better trigger than my (sold) 9VE or my current 40VE. But the F series .40 was infamous for fractures and the 9F for striker failures. In this regard, and overall looks, the VE is as advertised, that is, an overall improvement. Yeah, the VE isn't perfect, but for the price it's darn near. Just don't bet your lunch money against a guy with an old Model 39 and you'll be alright. Sigma, when, like me, you can't afford what you really want. Even then, a good gun.

And if you want it to keep shooting great, don't screw with it!

SIGMA: Love it or trade it for an M&P.

Whell thanks for the advise I was trying to make it easier to shoot for my wife. I personally have not come across a semi auto that shoots so straight, I can consistantly shoot a 12oz soda can at 45 yards and just for S&G's I tried a 78 yard shot and found it to be with in 3" to the left but dropped 7 1/2" I cant complain about a gun that can do that expecially for the $298.00 plus tax and 2 free mags!! Thank you again!

I believe EFK Firedragon made a ported barrel but I'm not sure. I know they either modified or sold Glock barrels as I recall to use .357 Sig in a .40VE but I don't remember the details. Google them, I'm sure you can find the information on their website.

EFK has stopped making Sigma barrels (for a good reason).
They still list a ported .40 on closeout for $175. (only fits .40 frame)

Longer barrel...Hmmmmm, if I hadn't sold my 9VE I could have tried a swap with my 9F which is a half an inch longer in barrel than the 9VE. Anyone ever try this?

A few years ago, making aftermarket barrels was all the rage. Everycompany was going to make every kind of conversion barrel of every kind for every gun. Another fellow and I were communicating with Olympic Arms about barrels like .357 for HP .40s.

Well, for business reasons (too many problems and returns) availabily has shrunk to barrel and gun combinations that the companies can sell out the door and make money.
