Sigma 9mm Question

Hey guys! Just purchased a Sigma from a guy (he's trustworthy, no worries there) - I had read to familiarize myself with the firearm well. So I decided to give field stripping a try. I pulled the slide, then pulled down on the "pin" that allows you to field strip it. Well I got it off after fooling with it for a moment and straightened up the spring and was putting it back on when I pulled back to cock it and test dry fire, I heard a slight "click" when I barely pulled it back and where it usually cocks when you pull all the way back, it's cocking when I only pull just a tad. Was wondering what happened. All I did was strip it...

Any ideas?

if i'm understanding this right, it actually sounds normal. you'll hear the firearm reset with maybe an inch or so moving the slide back.

I thought it didn't cock until you pull the slide all the way back?

and when you pull back just a little, it's a little "pop/click" type noise?

yea, sounds normal

Once you dismantle the slide from the frame and then reassemble it ,it is normal to hear a small click when you put it back together. This is the slide retainer clicking back in place. Then when you pull it back about an inch farther you wil here the sear engage the striker assembly

I thought it didn't cock until you pull the slide all the way back?

The Sigma has a Double Action Only (DAO) trigger, the striker is never "cocked" it is always at rest - until you pull the trigger back. (unlike a glock)
The click you hear is the sear reset, this is normal.
Be safe - shoot often

Xport7, I'm with you on this one. I ask questions if I'm not sure. Have asked quite a few on this forum. These guys are very helpful.

I drove myself nuts trying to field strip mine when I first got it. No where in the manual does it advise to pull the trigger which actually releases the slide. I finally asked a gunsmith after asking my buddy. There were two college educated guys who understand firearms pretty well and neither of us could figure it out, so we had to ask someone who knew what he was doing. The click is normal.
