Step #1- Purchased a 3.5 lb Striker spring from Wolff for $3.49.

Springs for SMITH & WESSON SIGMA CURRENT 4 INCH SERIES PISTOLS Semi-Auto Pistols

Step #2- Took it to my gunsmith, had him install the spring and polish all of the trigger parts.

The result? My sigma now has a trigger that feels similar in pull to a glock, all for under $30. No changes physically to the trigger, no reduction in safety or operation.

All the sigma haters, read it and WEEP! How's that for a slice of fried gold.

Hope thats not your carry gun. Let us know when you start getting FTF's due to light primer strikes because it will happen.

I wondered about that myself, I even asked about it when I talked to Wolff as well as the S&W repair guy here in Texas that's pretty well known for his trigger improvements. I'll update if it becomes a problem so that everyone will know. I can always just swap back in the original spring, the trigger polish alone made a world of difference.

On a similar note, do you happen to know what the weight of the stock striker spring is? I was thinking they weren't too much higher than the 3.5 I replaced it with. Time will soon tell I suppose.

(lol, neighbor of the beast, that's freaking funny!)

4.75 pounds according to wolff. The difference isn't much but just about everyone on this forum that has purchased it has had at least one light strike on the primer causing a failure to fire.

I note Wolff's site specifies the spring in question is "for competition only - not for duty" in bright red letters. This should be a clue.

SIGMA is designed to have a trigger pull like a DAO revolver - around 10 pounds and long.

If you want it more like a Glock, buy a Glock or an M&P. Don't try to make the SIGMA into something it is not.

Kinda like in every handgun owner's manual where it says that handguns "should be stored in a secure location, away from ammunition"? We all do that, right?

Look I was simply sharing with the community what I did with my sigma and was excited about the results. I apologize if the work I had done on my gun offends. I believe that bullet point #1 on the stickied Sigma thread is TRIGGER JOB. Do you jump everyone that wants to modify their gun to make it better?

Joker84-
Thanks man, I hadn't seen any of the posts about that. I purchased my spring a while back, long before I joined the forum. If it acts up at all, I'll swap it out for sure.

Welcome to the forum.
No need to get in a twist, the guys are just trying to make you aware of some potentially life saving info. Take it like it's meant.

Your welcome. And I apologize if I came off as a know-it-all or anything like that. I wasn't bashing your modding in any way, and in fact have done some modding to the trigger assembly on my SW9VE. Im just going by what I've read in other posts about the wolff striker springs. I hope you have better luck then they did. Cheers

Agree. SIGMA is a defense gun. If you want a range gun in these days of high ammo costs, a good 22 should do nicely. SIGMAs are great for defense, but of course, life savers should not be monkeyed with for fear that they will no longer be reliable.

That is the only point I am trying to make for other readers who may come along and not realize this type of modification should NOT be made to a weapon that will be used for self-defense.

I removed the pigtail spring on both of mine with no problems. I didn't mess with the other two springs in the sear assembly but if you think about, the sear's job is to pull the striker back so you probably can't hurt funtion too easy. The striker spring is another ball game alltogether. Lighter spring = lighter strike. Ok for the range but that's about it. I've got both of mine about 7-8 lbs. pull. Enough to avoid a "Plaxico" discharge but you don't need a fence puller.
