I've read online that Sigma/SD magazines are compatible with the M&P Compact (1.0 and 2.0 alike) because the overall length of the magazine is sufficient to fit into the magazine well and will lock into place securely, it merely hangs out the bottom a bit.
I can confirm that magazines from my SW40VE will indeed lock into my M&P40c and will manually feed rounds just fine, although standard capacity 14rd magazines are a bit of a snug fit, ergo they don't drop free. (Reduced capacity 10rd magazines do drop free though, not sure why.)
However, I've yet to attempt to fire my M&P40c with SW40VE magazines, so I'm not sure if it's actually reliable.
I'm curious if anyone here has ever tried it themselves. If not, then I may have to try it out myself next time that I get a chance.
