After about a 11 month wait I finally received a phone call telling me my stamp arrived and to come pick up the .22 cal Dead Air Mask. I tried it out last weekend and now wish I had done this a long time ago. My dogs sure appreciate it.

The only host that I had was a M&P 15-22 so about the same time that I ordered the Silencer I started building an AR22 pistol with the idea that it would be the go to for the suppressor. I then ran across a Taurus TX22 this past December and thought it would make a good host in a smaller package. I tried all 3 last weekend and everything functioned perfectly. The loudest sound to my ears was the bullet impact on the steel I was using as a target. This is gonna be hours of fun.

A 16 in bolt is even quieter.
Unfortunately, out of all my bolt 22's none are threaded. I'll have to get one of them threaded or look for a new one.

Very nice. Are you using sub-sonic ammo?

I was using CCI Standard velocity in all 3, I tried some Federal Auto Match out of the 2 short barreled hosts and none of it went supersonic. The AR has about a 7 inch barrel and the Taurus TX22 a 4 inch. I'm going to try some mini-mags today to see how they perform.

If one is going to have a suppressor...one for a .22 should be first...

Have had the Tactical Solutions AXIOM Titanium for about 8 years..just looks nice on everything and is very quiet...

I LOVE my Mask HD. It's a fantastic little can and loads of fun to shoot. It gets used the most on my 15-22 pistol, and M&P 22 compact.

CCI SV runs in all of my semis, and is just as quiet as any of the $$ "suppressor"/"subsonic" ammo I've tried.

I've got two rifle cans in jail right now from before the E form rollout. Thinking about picking up another to see if E forms goes faster.

My Sincere Condolences ;)

Congratulations!!!! I cringe at how much money, I foresee you spending down the NFA rabbit hole but it's worth it. I too have a Deadair Mask HD and have loved its performance and maintainability. My Mask is hosted by my home defense PS90, most of the time, unless I want to plink with my Tactical Solutions X-Ring or Ruger Mark IV. The 5.7 X 28mm subsonic ammunition is OBSCENELY expensive but worth it.

Pretty much any 22 lr will be sub-sonic out of normal length pistol barrel. I"f not wanting the "crack" out of a rifle barrel, subsonic will likely be required. A bolt is usually much quieter than a semi. CCI copper washed sub-sonic segmented rounds out of a 16 in bolt, are under whisper quiet. The hammer/striker strike is most noise ya hear unless hitting a hard target.

Apparently they also have a 710 fps version now.

The 16 in threaded barrel version is inexpensive, and the one owned is extremely accurate. This rifle with sub sonic and decent suppressor is way quieter than a pellet rifle, or a whisper. Read the reviews, it fits me but am 5'8" with short arms. It does not have a fine finish.

Just curious because I was using mu buddy's CAN on my 15-22 and tried a few different types of ammo. CCI Mini Mag, CCI SV, and SK Jagd SS. The 15-22 functioned perfectly with all the ammo, but you could sure tell the difference in sound level between them all. Obviously, the CCI Mini Mags were the loudest, CCI SV second loudest, but with the SK Jagd SS ammo all I could hear was the action cycling and the bullet hitting the steel plate at 50 yards.

I use a Surefire Ryder on my S&W 15-22, but it seems to be much more accurate with my Ruger 1022 Takedown. But, I'll have to agree with you that I wished I'd purchased my first suppressor much earlier than I did, I just didn't realize how much fun they were.

Oh it's not my first NFA rodeo, got a Sig 30 caliber for my blackout 7 years ago, efile was actually working at that time but it had issues. They eventually shut it down. Then I fooled around and the Trust rules were changed, should've gotten the 22 can before that happened. What prompted me a year ago was the fear that the tax was going to be increased so I bought 2 on the same day, still waiting on the other. In calendar time, not NFA time, it's about 18 days behind. I had to wait for it to come back in stock before paperwork could be sent. After this, I think I am done.

22 silencers are the most fun, and actually Hollywood quiet. I have a 9mm one too, but it's not close to a 22.

Got a few guns I can use mine on too.

I have had suppressors for a number of years and all the guys that make excuses for not having one or more are missing out on a lot.

This is VERY interesting to me, as I have not yet begun to explore the silencer options - but I would like to. So...as a newbie to silencers, I have questions. Will I need to get my M&P 15-22 barrel threaded? How much is the license? How much does the Mask cost? Thanks for any info!

1. It should already be threaded for a muzzle device. Take off the device and thread on the can.

2. $200 for the NFA stamp on top of the cost of the suppressor.

3. Mask?

Here's my Spectre II hanging out on the Tac-Sol X-22 Backpacker. Works pretty well on the Kimber 1911 rimfire slide too.
