I finally made it to the range today with my 2'nd Governor, it had been awhile since I shot one. Experimenting with some new 410 handgun loads was a lot of fun. Once again the Winchester PDX1 410 is my least favorite of the bunch. The flat projectiles are not very aerodynamic causing large dispersion followed by the BBs that scatter even wider. The newer Hornady Critical Defense load was much better and has potential. But my favorite is still Federals 000 Buck handgun load which performs the best at all ranges from 5 to 20 yards.
I also shot 100 rnds of assorted 230 grain 45acp and they shot to the POA even out to 25 yards. Next I shot some 45 Colt loads and they too very accurate with the Speer Gold Dots really shooting tight. The Winchester Cowboy loads were a lot of fun also and surprisingly accurate. But for something different and very expensive I shot a few of my Lehigh Defense loads just to see how they'd perform. I shot one thru some water jugs and they expand massively.
So once again I have to say that the Governor is a wonderful revolver. Very well built and accurate also I feel practical for a number of roles. Like for example a great house gun and a good hiking companion. I feel confidant that loaded with these Lehigh Defense loads you could stop anything cold in it's tracks.
The new Silver Governor is nearly identical to my earlier one except they changed the front sight to a plain blade and the new grips cover the backstrap as opposed to my old one with factory Hogue Bantams.
My local dealer can't keep these things in stock and for good reason.
