Silverado came up in the coffee pot thread. So lets do what movies were filmed where you live thread?
A bunch of movies have been filmed here in NM, but let's start with Silverado.
It was mostly filmed in a then new movie town up on the Cook Ranch,
Galisteo, NM, which is about 25 miles S of Santa Fe.
According to online, others parts were filmed at various locations around Northern NM.

My fav NM trivia movie story? The Gunfight, filmed over at Gallup, NM.
Stars Kirk Douglas and Johnny Cash. Before they had their staged gunfight, they had a fist fight. Oops! Problem. The no. 2 star John Cash, is tall. The no. 1 star, Kirk is a short little guy. You can't have a tall no. 2 beat up on a short no.1.
Solution? Dig a circular trench with an island left in the middle. Short guy stands on island, tall guy stands in trench. They both slug away, and circle. Move the camera around the circle, get a great fight sequence.
So what movies did they film down your way?

True Grit was filmed in Ouray Colorado. Last Man Standing (the Movie) and Kid Nation were both filmed "in Silverado"

The Town That Dreaded Sundown, and Legend of Boggy Creek, were filmed around here since the stories took place here, and the Director, Charles B. Pierce was from here. The Horse Soldiers, with John Wayne and Bill Holden was filmed in North Louisiana.

"Outbreak" (1995 Dustin Hoffman medical disaster film) was filmed in Ferndale, CA, a little Victorian town about 300 miles north of San Francisco. I lived up in that County (Humboldt) back then and was one of many extras in the film.

Snoozers for the most part...

Harry in your Pocket, where then mayor Wes Uhlman gets his pocket picked on screen

The Fabulous Baker Boys

Harry and the Hendersons...had a sister-in-law in one of the scenes

Sleepless in Seattle.....I wasn't

A buncha others locally I can't think of.

National Lampoons Vacation. A lot was filmed in Flagstaff, Az. and the Grand Canyon while I lived and worked in both.

Starman, with Jeff Bridges, Meteor Crater, Az.

Hair in Wash. DC. I was in it.

All the Presidents Men, DC again, and my neighborhood, Chevy Chase, was used for a lot of the house scenes.

A Robin Williams movie (he was a teacher at a private school) in Delaware when I lived there.

No Way Out, Kevin Costner. Annapolis, Md

I'm sure there are others. I've moved a lot!

Shame on you! How could you forget that The Duke himself shot "McQ" in Seattle? Colleen Dewhurst just has that cigarettes and whiskey voice that's fantastic - as she did in another John Wayne movie, The Cowboys.

Speaking of royalty, in addition to The Duke's McQ, The King made "It Happened at the World's Fair" here. With Batgirl-to-be Yvonne Craig.

Or for the younger of our members, "Singles" was also shot here.

Edit: Just looked it up, and didn't realize Singles was 20 years ago. I guess it isn't for the younger members after all. Anyone old enough to have seen it in the theater as a first release would be nearly 40 by now.

Second edit: Thinking again, for some of the members here (me almost included) a 40 year old IS a youngster...

There was some hurricane-disaster movie, called "Condominium", shot at Pinnacle Port, which is a condo (with a very distinctive tower) down the road about 25 miles. That would be "Tower A". Cross-shaped and fairly tall, right on the Gulf, sayin', "Here wind-wind-wind. Blow little hurry-cane." :D

And The Truman Show. The little town he lived in is Seaside - about 30 miles west of me, and that unfinished bridge he and his buddy were hitting golf balls off of is Deerpoint Dam, about 6 miles north-east of me.

Fargo was not shot in Fargo, and only one scene is set there. It was shot mostly in the Twin Cities and rural MN.

Not to mention all the movies shot in Vancouver BC in which police cars says Seattle PD on them. BC is cheaper for filming. In Hollyweird, overcast skies are overcast skies; accuracy be darned.

I think everyone knows that "Animal House" was shot at the University of Oregon, but not many people know that the Delta house was actually a Christian co-op that was between the Beta Theta Pi house and the Sigma Nu house. Lots of parties at those two frat houses that I sort of remember... :)

Filmed in the Big Bend Region of Texas:

No Country for Old Men
Fandango
Giant

Yup....First Blood was shot up there....terrible representation of WSP uniforms and cars in that one.

Lots of TV shows are shot there as well, for the same reason you mentioned.

EDIT: Almost forgot Clark Gable and Loretta Young shooting "Call of the Wild" around Mount Baker!

Desert sands was the only one I recognized for sure.
Speaking of Tommy Lee - when be thought that he took that herd to Montana in Lonesome Dove, he was actually in a Black Lake, NM up near Angel Fire.
