Well I finally did it the other day, I ordered my first quality leather holster from Simply Rugged for my S&W M10 I was going to get a Mernickle PS6-DA but I like the added protection that the Sourdough pancake holster offers better. So to tide me over until my holster gets here can anyone here that has a Sourdough post pics of your simplyrugged rig for me to drool over?

Just got my (first) Sourdough Pancake for my 4" K frames yesterday. The holster design tucks the butt of the gun tight to the body. Works great and looks good, too. Great practical leather. Thanks, Rob!

Thanks for all of the replies and pictures folks. My holster was waiting for me last night when I got home from work, and it is better than I imagined it would be. Rob just earned another dedicated long term customer.

Ahhh! Love good leather.
I enjoy seeing Rob's products as they evolve. The first one I bought, back before he was even in Alaska at all, was the one in the lower left hand corner of my picture up there.
It's for a four-inch N-frame but works tolerably with a Python, too.
You can see how he's changed the stiching, the boning, the slot placement, and some other subtleties as well.
One thing about the Simply Ruggeds is that they hide a good-size revolver so well.
A few summers back on a hot Saturday morning, I was at an IDPA match (at Howell's) and one of my cohorts asked me why I wasn't shooting the match that day.
I was, and it was a four-inch Python under my light summer shirt that he couldn't detect.
Now, that's concealment

Well folks since I got the holster the other day I've been messing around with it quite a bit. I'm at somewhat of a loss at the moment as I'm begining to wonder if I made a mistake in my purchase of this holster. Let me explain myself here. Up until this point I have been using a Bianchi Accu Mold 7001 with a Wilderness Instructor belt to good effect. It carries well on the hip at the 4 O' clock position and allows me a good purchase of the revolvers grip. Plus there is still enough room on my strong side that I can carry my double speed loader pouch.

The Simply Rugged holster on the other hand positions the revolver a bit further back due to where the belt slots are located in relation to the belt loops on my pants. So when I wear the holster as I normally would I have to twist my upper body a bit to allow for a good grasp on the revolver. This is very awkward feeling and uncomfortable at the same time. The only way to overcome this problem is to skip a belt loop, but then due to the space taken up by the holster I can no longer use my double speed loader pouch that I normally carry. So I'm kinda undecided at this point as well as wondering if I made a mistake purchasing this holster. Does anypne here that uses a pancake holster find themselves needing to skip a belt loop, in order to position the holster where you want it?

336, I find that to wear any of my OWB holsters correctly I need to have the 3 o'clock belt loop under the holster. Belt comes through the rear holster slot, then loop, then forward slot. This gives me about a 3.30 carry position.
Speedloaders on the offside. HTH

All the issues you listed will vary wildly. Dependent on number of belt loops and their position(s), position of belt loops relative to holsters over all width, and last but certainly not least, your physique?
Dialing in a change in any one of the above criteria and the fortune that gets spit out of Cassandra's mouth will change radically.
I for one, find it impossible to use ANY paddle holster. But that's due to my body type, not a badly designed holster.

When I started using my Milt Sparks Versa-Max II for my 629, I had to relocate my El Paso Saddlery cartridge slide to the weak side at 11:00 because of the holster's width. I used to keep the slide at 1:00, but it's a nonissue. I can access the ammo "crossdraw" and if I need a rapid reload, that's what a BUG is for. My old FIST IWB is much narrower, but a little less stable. As is usually the case, it's rare that one holster is better at everything than another so the FIST still sees some use.

I love my Simply Rugged holsters, even though my body shape (round) doesn't lend itself to a very comfortable wearing of a pancake holster. I am tired of this, so I am losing some weight. The pants that I wear have the belt loop to far back, so I either have to skip it, or wear the holster more forward. I have fewer issues with the SR holster for my 1911, it isn't quite as wide as the one for my N Frame.

2Hawk's suggestion is what I do as well. If that still doesn't work out for you a dry cleaner or a good wife can move the belt loops for you.
I did have one pair of jeans that must have been made by the handicapped, and I just moved a couple of the belt loops slightly forward of where they had been, and now my holster is in the right position.
I'll be holster hunting this afternoon myself. I did get two holsters with the Model 36 but they don't have enough cant to fit my misshapen shape. I really like the looks of the Simply Rugged holsters. How do you that own one like it?

Thanks for all of the helpful hints guys. I'm wearing my holster now in the fashion that 2hawks suggested and it is working out better. I did have to use a different belt though as the polymer insert in my instructor belt just wasn't working out so well. Oh well now I have an excuse to buy another belt

I also swithched from using my double speed loader pouch to the old police double dump pouch.
