Simply Rugged

I have both a 3" and a 4" that I have had for many years. I had ordered a 3" for my 66, 686 and 696. when it arrived, it was for a 4" gun. when I contacted them they told me just to keep it and they would send me a new one in 3" which they did. Great customer service. I like their holsters. They are simple and protect the firearm well.

Sip, what do you mean by "punch?"

I appreciate the comments, and understand that we all have different reactions to different holsters. It's always an ongoing search to find holsters that work for us.

I have a Sourdough on the way. Fundamentally, I am a fan of the pancake.

Edited to add: I think Sip simply means a fist to the side. In researching a bit, I have found some folks who are in good shape, narrow waisted, find the Sourdough uncomfortable. Fortunately, I am overweight. Hoping it's comfortable for me...:)

Sorry, I meant pouch, mine was simply two slabs of leather, no molding. But your fist to the side explanation was interesting.

Received my SimplyRugged pancake yesterday. The Sourdough model is for medium and large sized revolvers.

It is, on brand, simple and rugged. The leather is quite stiff, as it should be, and my Colt Three Fifty Seven is snugly retained.

On my reholstering question, as noted above, the opening of the holster does not collapse when the gun is withdrawn, and the flared opening makes reholstering a cinch:

I have not worn it for any length of time, so can't speak from experience yet, but I believe it will prove comfortable, especially as the holster, with use, conforms to the shape of my body.

While not finely boned, the holster is clearly shaped to my revolver model, as can be most clearly seen in the second photo above.

it seems to me to be an excellent value at its price point.

I carry my Python in a Sourdough Pancake pretty much daily for farm work. For my wife's 3" Python, I bought her a Sourdough Pancake finished with Python skin. Simply Rugged holsters are my favorite for revolvers and I have one to fit all of my Colt, S&W, and Rugers. Materials and workmanship are very good, holsters are comfortable to carry, and turnaround time is reasonable. Carved holsters I usually get within six weeks, and several times I've found something I was specifically looking for on the "gear to go" page, in which case turnaround was less than a week.

I've worn the Sourdough holster for nearly a week now, under my jacket or fleece vest, when out of the house, on my daily ~ 3 mile walks, shopping, driving and on other errands. I find it quite comfortable, and very easy to reholster. No special manipulation required. Slides straight into place with a mild push.

I was a little concerned about the holster loops as they are only available on this model at 1.75" and my belts are all 1.5". Leahy states that with pancakes oversized belt loops make no difference as the belt pulls the holster in tightly, fixing it in place. I guess only thing I noticed as different from my normal 1.5" holster loops is that positioning it on the belt when new was easier. Feels nice and tight on the belt, as it should.

I'm 6'2", 230 lbs. Here's how it rides:

I remain pleased with it.

I'm a fan of simplyrugged. Their holsters have a fundamentally sound design, and really hold the sidearm securely under active field conditions.

When no one else had a leather holster for the Glock 40 Longslide, Rob did... His CUDA was just what I was looking for...

Have SR holsters for most of my SAs and DAs where they are mainly used as field/hunting holsters...

And that is the one nice thing about these holsters not being "boned" to hold one specific gun. One holster will hold a bunch of guns securely...

I just ordered a simple Silver Dollar Pancake for my 640-1 Pro in Oxblood. Anxiously awaiting its arrival……

Arrived a couple of days ago…15 days from order. Beautiful, heavy duty construction. Certainly should live up to its "rugged" imprimatur.

Just ordered a 120 Tom Three Persons for my 6" 27-2
Went with Basket Weave & Border Stamping in Ox Blood
I'll put up a thread on it when it gets here in probably a month or less - & that's such a good thing!
I've wanted to try other makers but, they are like 6 months minimum & to be quite honest, the quality of Simply Rugged is just impeccable anyways.
