Single Stack 9mm

Where can a novice to the S&W semi autos find a list of the pistols similar to the 39-2? I do not have a copy of the Standard Catalogue.
The fit of this pistol to my hand is about as good as it gets and I'd like to get a more modern version in wood and metal, ie; no plastic. For now.

Agreed, that frame is one of the best designs ever. I'm sure there are others but the 39, 52, 439, 539 and 639 all share the same frame profile although material varies from aluminum to steel to stainless steel. I prefer the steel versions since they balance nicely too.

You can also add the 3904-3906 to the list in a full size....however they don't show up very often as they were only made for a short time.

Keep looking for a 39-2.....they are out there.....

If it helps there is a 639 for sale in a local pawn shop here in Billings Montana..and, the local Cabela's has a 39-2 as well.... I can the the details for you if you would like....

Correct. For instance, the 908 is very similar to the 3913/4. Much like a 457 is similar to a 4513.

Just bought an all SS 639 in mint condition a few weeks ago..........single stack....love it.

While the CZ-75 is not a single stack it does have great ergonomics and is all steel. Recently I purchased a Dan Wesson PM-9 (1911 type) and have been very impressed with both it's reliability and accuracy.

The 909 is the economy version of the 3906/3904. I had one until I found a 3906.

I've got a 39-2 and now a burning desire to get one of later models. That CS9 is looking tempting.

While certainly not economy level, the 952's are single stacks.

I've got a 908s (stainless version of the 908), it's got a couple of plastic parts (guide rod, trigger). It is an excellent shooter and was my favorite gun until I got my 3913LS. The LS is just ever so slightly better balanced (IMO).

Both are single stack, DS/SA.

I had a 3913 and it was a wonderful compact 9MM. Very easy to hit with and remain on target. Sold it and a 6906 to fund a Springfield EMP, otherwise I'd still have the 3906.

39xx is the third generation line. x39 is the 2nd gen. 39 is the 1st.

just bought a 3953 a few months ago. it is DAO but single stack
