According to the technical data on SW website, these two guns are almost identical in size (same height/width, almost same length.) I am wondering how they feel side-by-side in real life. Are holsters interchangeable?

unfortunately I dont have the 45 but I have held the fullsize one (8.05"length, 5.5"height)and own the 9. I was interested in the midsize 45 (7.55", 5.5") which is only .05" longer than the 40 and 9. I think it would be sweet to have the 9 and (almost) matching midsize 45 to go with it.

In my opinion the fullsize 45 felt the same in my hand as the 9 (which is the same as the 40). Im not sure if the grip is exactly the same but it felt like it to me. I would assume holsters would be interchangeable.

The grips are almost identical in size. the difference being that the .45 has a bit less taper towards the front of the grip where the sides transition to the front strap. The .45 is ever so slightly thicker.

The overall length (fullsize M&P45) is enough so that the muzzle protrudes about 1/2" out of an open bottom M&P 9/40 holster.

The mid-size .45 is so close in length that you'd be hard pressed to really notice the difference.

I bought a Galco Concealable for the FS M&P45 and carry both my M&P45 and my M&P9 in it.

Not all styles/materials of holster will allow interchange of the two guns...though most leather holsters I've tried will.

While not an expert on the subject I have held both at a shop and they feel almost exactly the same in the hand. I don't see why it wouldn't work with either one in the same holster.

I have full size 9 and mid size 45 and they feel the exact same until you pull the trigger. Cannot notice any discernible difference in the grip thickness of the two. I do shoot the 9 more accurately, but have only shot about 150 rds thru the 45. I enjoy shooting both, and find I don't shoot a 4006tsw since it fits in between...zorro49
