I just discovered that S&W is sleeving new barrels. The way I found this startling info was through a Ruger ad that said they have all steel barrels. I checked YouTube and found it to be true. I immediately checked my guns and found that I have none. Do all their new guns have this or is it a limited edition thing? I've seen it in Saturday night specials, but this is new to me. Does anyone have any experienced opinions on this? Bobby was right. The times they are definitely a changing.

The S&W two & three piece barrels (barrel/shroud or barrel/shroud/tension nut) are generally found on the lightweight scandium (Sc) frames pistol & are not "Saturday Night Special" but rather premium priced revolvers.

This type of assembly puts less stress on the frame where the barrel screws in, are generally considered potentially more accurate, & weigh less.

They are "almost" immune to barrel clocking, the sight/barrel not at zero degrees, straight up, to the frame & rear sight.

I've also found their forcing cones to be better shaped & far less likely to be rough than found in their one-piece barrels.

I have quit a few & have no faults with them.
