Just picked up a used M&P 9. Like new. The test cartridge packet says March, 2012. The question about the slide is . . . the slide is NOT stamped "Stainless". Does this signify any thing important. The SKU# is 309601.

That SKU comes up on Budspolicesupply as the full size 9mm with mag safety and night sights as bobnieder pointed out. They sell for $455 new with three mags.
Some aren't stamped stainless. I don't know why. You can do a search and read more about it.

I have a M&P that I bought in 2011 that is stamped but the one that I bought in March was not I think that Smith & Wesson quit stamping the M&P's in late 2011!

I just bought a .40 M&P from Buds Police supply (Yesterday)

It's not stamped on mine either even though it's stamped in the photo. I had the same question at BUDS when I picked it up...It's Stainless ...they just dont stamp a lot of em now according to the guys there.
BTW I've put 200 rounds through the gun today and It's a DREAM!
I got 50$ off S&W rebate for Vets and Active Military so it cost $405 total and I got 3 each 15 round mags with it.
