What model would you like to see a Rear Slide Racker plate to be able to rack the slide back easier?

My Shield 9 is the hardest-racking semi-auto I have ever shot. If any semi-auto needs a rear slide racker plate, it is the Shield 9. My Shield 45 and my M&P 40c are relatively easy to rack. I've never shot any SD model, so I don't know about those.

For a couple years i was just fine racking my PC Shield. But this year, with thumb/tendon issues that racking has become more difficult. Not impossible but not easy. And not getting better it seems.
I have a TK Halo ring on my Victory; no it isnt needed to rack but with the side design it is a slick little item to use.
Not sure if i put something on my Shield, if it is some extended bar type that replaces the rear plate or a design like the Halo ring where a finger can rack.
Just tossing some ideas around, as something added could make it easier to keep shooting that particular gun.

I think some or all of you "No" guys aren't the target audience for an item like this. (See what I did there?)
Those of us with infirmities that have difficulty grasping the slide firmly enough to pull it back could benefit from any protrusion that helps get a better grip. For instance, I'm still able to hold and fire a gun properly, but that's because the grips give me someplace for all of my fingers to hold onto. Even placing my hand over the top of the slide and gripping like that is hit or miss for me, and I'm sure others feel the same.
That said: NDZ, have you given any thought to a temporary device that will help grasp the slide? I realize there is another maker with something that does what I'm describing, but theirs is somewhat generic because they have 3 general sizes and no refinements. (I forget who.) Maybe something specific to the S&W slide profile. Thanks!

I am of the opinion if you can't rack it, even using the push-pull method, then you should not own it. Yeah that is a bummer, but you can buy the 380 EZ model, which is super simple to rack or get a wheel gun.
I change the sights on my M&P pistols, Trijicon HD's with the yellow/green front sight. I do nothing else to the weapon, especially bolting on something.
I could probably just black out the stock rear sight and be fine as I do not even believe in the value of night sights (I use a light). I do however like the U notch and big front yellow/green sight when daylight shooting.
This is the way to do it. I teach anyone that asks about slide racking this method. In fact its 90% push IMHO.
The biggest problem with slide racking, especially this method, is newbies tend to ride the slide and not let go, possibly causing issues. Practice makes perfect.

Only speaking for myself, but if while i wear a brace for support and pain relief and have trouble racking a slide, opening a jar, etc then why not try options to make it easier/pain free.
I am happy with how I shoot my Shield (pic was recent, with brace, at 8yds), so sure as heck dont feel i should have to get rid of my Shield if (for now anyway) i have some difficulties.
I am all for good techniques to be used at any level, but sometimes a little assistance is needed. I see these options like the Uplula loader. Not 100% mandatory but sure could make life easier.

Just as a reference as what we are referring to is the racker plate like the one we make for the Glocks but will not be exactly the same that will replace the rear slide plate.

Tell that to our wounded Vets that come back minus a limb or two but still want to get out there and shoot. Sheesh.

If you'd had them for the Shield 9 I wouldn't have traded my G43 to my Wife for her Shield. But water under the bridge now, or over the dam, or that ship has sailed, oh heck something like that. I wouldn't want one on my carry gun but she keeps her gun in her purse so I don't think it would be an issue. I don't have any issues racking the Shield 9 but I do notice that it is much harder than most guns to rack. She couldn't rack it no matter what method she used but the G43 is no problem for her.
Anyhow, I voted for the Shield 9. But are they still selling enough of those that making a slide racker for them would be worthwhile?

We all get older and/or develop various impairments - which can change anyone's perspective (including those who are currently impairment free)

Kinda reminds me of the old Crossman BB pistol I had as a kid
It had a wide spot at the rear of the slide like that - because it had a BEEFY spring to cock

Bought a 9mm Shield (Gen 1) to replace my 642 as my CCW gun. I carried it for some time until the arthritis in my hand would not let me rack the slide like I could when I got the gun (Super bummer!!).
You have to be able to perform clearing jams, double feeds etc. in a self defense situation smoothly and quickly. I looked for almost a year for a Slide attachment like they had for the Glock without success.
I sold the Shield and got a 6 shot J Frame size revolver to replace it.
The only 9mm that has almost the same dimensions is the Springfield XD-E
with a 9+1 capacity. I could operate the slide on that pistol without any
difficulty but had already purchased the revolver.

My HK VP9SK and Shield EZ both have wings that make it so much easier to get a grip for racking.
When I saw a slide racker plate for the Shield, I ordered it.
After an easy install, it was MUCH easier for me to rack.
After testing at the range, I was convinced.
The next day, I carried the Shield. That was when my opinion changed.
The wings on the racker plate dug into my side and HURT.
Both the Shield EZ and the VP9SK are comfortable to carry.
But I took the racker plate off my Shield.
I am considering putting it back on, as I haven't carried the shield since I got my P365.

I had a stroke a few years ago and my left hand is a bit weak as a result. I really have a tough time racking my Shield 9.
Love the idea of an option for those that struggle with racking slides. My wife shoots her P365 really well but racking the slide, not so much. I put a Halo Charging ring on her Ruger Volquartsen and never looked back.
BTW, solved all her and many of my students racking problems with a Shield EZ. Love that gun

I would certainly be interested in a slide racker plate for the Shield. I have one on my Glock 43, however it is made by a company that no longer makes them. It sticks out just enough to not be obtrusive similar to the VP9. I fully understand technique but a device such as this can be beneficial to those that have limited grip strength for whatever reason.
None. I believe its a gimmick.
Are you sure it was the racker plate that got you? I do have issues with the shield v1 rear sight. The corners on it are so sharp they dig into my burger gut (I don't drink much beer) and hurt and can actually leave a raw spot after repeated extended carry episodes.

If someone needs to make racking the slide of an M&P easier, they need a Shield EZ.
