Whenever I log on, Handejector keeps urging me to post not realizing how shy I am, so here is a tip I picked up. For all us OFFs (old fat fxxts) who used to wear the three piece uniform with the starched white shirts that used collar stays; those flat thin plastic stays work great in preventing the frame scratch when reassembling the 1911. Slip it under the lever where it touches the frame and push the lever up on the plunger. Pull out the stay and push in the lever. Voila!!

Anyone else with tricks?

What do those of us to young to wear those shirts do?

Just kidding, I used to wear those shirts but they are all gone now so I'll have to find a substitute. Any suggestions?

What got me looking for a scratch preventor was a gunbroker ad that sold these neat multi colored squares of plastic with even a keychain hole. I'm not too young to learn just too cheap to spend $6 bucks on something I can do for myself.
