Hello All
I am currently restoring my Grandfathers collection. Among them are three Model 61-3 pistols that were fire damaged. Rust and melted plastic removed. Broken down to just slide and frame but just can't get slide's to retract. Granted there may more melted gunk gluing inner slide to spring tube I cant see but it feels like I'm fighting a lock of some type. It seems the bolt is locked to the breach in some fashion...what am i missing ?

Rust? Have you soaked them in anything? Do you have disassembly instructions? Search on google for a video if not.

To soak: use a 50/50 solution of ATF (tranny fluid) and acetone, submerge guns in a sealed container, and vibrate. If you don't have access to an Ultrasonic cleaner which is the best, you can set the container in your case cleaner if you reload and use that. Failing both of those, throw the container in the trunk of your car while you drive around for a week.

Probably rust welding the slide to the receiver. Soak in a 50/50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Be patient.

I had a similar project once. Soaked it in Kroll and gently used a rubber mallet to encourage the parts to move.
