I'm a little hesitant to post this without a picture--probably bad form-- but I recently had Cylinder & Slide do a bit of custom work on a used 686 I bought. It is a square butt, hammer nose type, and had a 4" barrel. I had them install a new factory 6", and also mill off most of the underlug, approximating the older style partial underlug. They had to put in a different extractor rod and do some work on the forward latch setup. But I love the end result. Great balance, still has pretty much a bull barrel, and probably not too many of these around. It's wearing a pair of Eagle Heritage rosewood "coke bottles" and seems very happy. I'll post a picture down the road.

Slim: Sounds good. I like the idea of losing most of the underlug. I have always prefered the most classic lines.

Very cool, I have seen a 586 like that. I guess it is like a 620 without the two piece barrel and lock. I look forward to seeing it.

Getting rid of that underlug had to help the looks of it.
