Smith 1086

Any idea as to what this gun is worth? I read there was only 1667 of them made (?). Do not have original box (but have a box). Has night sights and magazine disconnect & 3 mags. No scratches at all, excellent (98%)condition. This was a PD issued weapon that I qualified with in 1992. Shot 150 rounds through it, and then the department said it was to big for female officers?? So, we got to buy it, and it has been in safe since then.

I've seen them go as high as $1100.

The prices seem down right now, probably due to the difficulty find and expense of 10mm ammo.

I suspect on Gunbroker right now it'd go for $550-$650. But you never know with an auction.

I'd love to have another 1086.....

About a year ago I bought an unfired 1086 (TFJ98XX) for $450; the box is a little worn, but still retains it's matching label and paper work.
It was a "good ol' boy" deal from a friends father who knew I accumulated S&W's which is why it was so reasonably priced.
I have two 1076's, so the 1086 will most likely remain unfired.

The 1991 S&W catalog lists the 1086 product code as 108251.

A 1086 with one mag & non-original box went for $1650,
in December (item 886921898). Haven't seen any others
since, but 1008s and 1076s have all been over a grand.

Questions about 1086

I also have another question.
I contacted S&W and they told me the pistol was made 12-6-90.
It has night sights that are marked 1993. Did any of them come original with night sights? What features would the 1086 come with? With so little being made I wonder how many were actually different. I also see people getting a "Letter" about where their pistols had been sent when new. How do I get this done? Thanks again for any help.

Contact S&W direct and the historian, who used to be Roy Jinx will produce a letter. It will cost you though...

The real problem now with S&W 10XX pistols isn't finding the 10mm ammo to feed them.

It's the cost of the 9-rd 10XX-series mags when you can even find them.

Last I saw, a merely 'good condition' used 10mm mag was running $85.00. LNIB/NIB mags were well north of $100.00

Wow $100 dollars is a chunk of money for sure. Does anyone know why there was so few of the 1086 made? Also did they come with night sights from S&W ?

I would say if they were made for a LE contract - yes, perhaps. For those made for commercial sales - probably not. Have Trijicon re-lamp the sights and enjoy the pistol.
