Wow that's a lot of money! Even if it is a 3" w/ a round butt.
I remember when Registered Magnums were going for less than that.

Some people with great wealth (and probably also some with not a lot of money and not a lot of common sense) will gladly pay outrageous amounts for firearms with no hesitation because they just have to obtain that particular weapon at any cost. And that's OK; I don't begrudge them for that because it's their money and they can spend it as they please, but it sometimes spoils it for the rest of us "common people" with not as much resources. At age 70, I'm very fortunate that I have a modest collection of vintage Smith revolvers and I don't have to play that game.

I agree

If someone wants a model whatever? bad enough they're going to pay it. And good for them.

We may eventually see a bit of a coming back to earth in pricing but I doubt it's any landslide. They don't make the old ones anymore, duh.

What does kill me though is the guns in what I consider "rough shape" and they still have top of the heap pricing on them. That aren't that old and aren't that rare.

This should come as no surprise. In every collectible category there are people that pay silly money. Cars, guns, coins, stamps. You name it. Prices ebb and flow. Trick is to buy low sell high. It's part of the fun.

A 13-4 three inch I was watching on GB just closed at $2,375, 41 bids. No box or papers. Decent normal used condition. Uncle Mikes grips.

Madness.

There must be a disturbance in the Force, all these M13's going for near Register Magnum prices..... I wonder what it is...????

Maybe there's something in the description that hypnotizes potential buyers, making them bid dollars thinking they are bidding pennies.....

Apparently Smith doesn't watch GB. They should be cranking out three inch K frames like there's no tomorrow. I can't recall the last time I saw a new one. I'm not sure it's even in the catalog anymore.
