Smith 15-2

I recently purchased a model 15-2 for $325 that I was hoping you all could help me out with. It appears to be in 90-95% condition. It has very very slight muzzle wear from being in a holster and it has very very slight cylinder ring. I am going to try and attach some photos. Could you tell me what year it was made? Any other important information would be appreciated as well!!!!

I also have a model 18 that is in rougher condition that my grandfather gave to me. He was an avid shooter and I know that this is something he shot a lot. (He had a small range built in his basement... as I said he was an avid shooter.) This gun I have almost no information about as he passed away last year. I would love to know anything about this gun as well. I would love to purchase wood grips for this gun but I am not sure which ones I would need. Thanks!!!!

Your Model 18 is a K frame so any K frame grips will fit it.

In 1951, your .22 Combat Masterpiece would most likely have shipped with Magna style stocks and they were probably the third style postwar stocks. Blued stamped steel insert with no relief hole for the rear sideplate screw. They would have had a diamond around the screw hole on the left and escutcheon on the right. But any K frame diamond Magna stocks will look correct on your revolver.
BTW - this is not a Model 18. It is a .22 Combat Masterpiece. Model numbers did not come along until 1957-58.
