Smith 29-2 trouble

good morning everyone! i have a smith 29-2 that fired very little which gives me a problem. after a while I shoot the hammer is blocked and I cannot arm it. in order to continue shooting I have to open the cylinder and close it again. do you think a good gunsmith can solve the problem? Thanks!

Give it a good internal cleaning or flushing. Probably lots of old sticky lube and dirt inside

Yep, could be the lock work has become very dirty and gummy.

Sounds like the cylinder latch is sticking and not closing fully. Next time it happens, before opening the cylinder, try pulling back on the latch (opposite direction of opening), and see if you regain function. It doesn't have to move much to jam the action by locking the hammer.
