I was at a show that was ending , the guy had a mint 29/6.5 blued fact rubber grips with inlaid Smith emblem . the gun is flawless blue was ex . has a real nice smooth trigger , its the one with full lug like a 586. red ramp target trigger , hammer with great case color . 750 out the door .looks new . TJB47xx when was it made ? and how did I do on price ? he had a lot higher price on this gun . boy it is a beauty finish wise . I left a 3 in 629 fluted cyl go by for 650 not long ago , I would have second thought this one the whole way home .

I don't know about collector value, but you bought a great shooter with the full lug barrel. Factory ammo will be 'brisk', but not uncomfortable to shoot. Price wise you did very well in my opinion for a M29 with excellent blueing but no box or documents.

I would have been a buyer at that price.

I believe this one is called the "Classic". Classically the model 29 did not have the full underlug barrel but the marketing force is strong. :)

It is an unusual SN for a revolver; the T prefixes tend to be seen on pistols. I think you did fine on the price. Enjoy!

Most likely Jan - Mar time frame 1991. Pics would be nice! :)

I just never see this 44 around in gun shops laying for sale . They don`t make them any more type thing .

At $750 you did great, IMO. I'd certainly be player at that price for a minty 29 Classic full lug. Here's mine, "Big Blue", a 29-6 Classic 6.5" bought used and in need of mechanical help back in 1998. BRD prefix dates to 1994. Great gun, a real tackdriver.

That WALKABOUT is a rare one! There's one of Tom's that I don't have!

Congratulations on the 29! I had a 29 Classic back in the 1990s . I recall performing a lot of accuracy testing with it and it was quite a good shooter.

That five inch is real nice . I bought a 4 in 629 no dash back in the 80`s with the wood box , it was new , had a few years sold it . Was in a shop not far from here and there is a 4 in 629 for 625.00 I left with out it thought it over, and new not many buy a 4 in 44 . Bought it and was my old one I bought new . That 4 in shoot hard with 180 gr.

That is a real nice 29-2 four inch , I still run into older 629 with the 6 inch for like 750 range . I had a 3in 629 fluted cyl wood grips ,no lock for like 639 range . left it go , a week or too later it was still in the gun case .

I just dug up my Safari land lined leather holster for a 6.5 N gun . I new I had one .also still have the shell belt for when I had the 629 no dash 4 in .

Bumped into this 29-5 at my LGS a few years ago. At the time I was only famliar with the 29-2 so I 'hurried' home to read about it in the SCSW, then 'hurried' back to get it. The price tag says $629 but I don't remember what I actually paid for it. I replaced the rubber grips though.

Good score. I remember drooling over this one from the late 80's.

Ditto

I had it's stainless brother, 6.5" 629-4. Sold it to a buddy for $1000 and he was pleased with the price. Tried to buy it back, it's not happening.

I was offered a gun like you describe a year ago for $600.00 and I passed. Thought it was too high then and still do.
