Smith 629-5 6”

Great looking gun either way. Don’t know if scarce.

I do not know if it is scarce or not. I just know that the word "SCARCE" is quite often misused! Bob

I couldn't tell you. I do imagine the classic series was a better seller at the time. I guess lets see what it sells for

Just set one aside...

Not sure if it's scarce but went into a LGS today and put a super nice 629-5 6" on layaway. It came with the case and all paperwork. Super clean and didn't look like it had been fired much. LGS owner sold it to the owner and then the guy traded it back for some other SA revolvers. Got it at a great price and it'll be my first S&W .44, can't wait to get it out ans shoot.

If it matters, I’ve got a 4” -5. I got it for $700 , and it shoots like a dream in double action.

I swapped the original grips for the grips from my -3 Classic.

That's a nice looking piece. Maybe I'll find a 4" to start building my 629 collection. Seems like 4" is a sweet spot for S&W revolvers and demands a premium, regardless of caliber.

If it has a carry purpose, 4” is where it’s at. The recoil is stout with Magnums, but I fire 12 magnums out of it and the rest specials every time I take it out.

I can shoot both rounds equally well, and with a 4”, the POI is similar. The magnums just get old fast.

nice pistols, I really like the smiths, I have 8 right now and 3 are 629's I have a no dash 4", a no dash 8 3/8" and a dash 6 6 1/2" power port classic
