Newest addition to the family…..
AJCxxxx serial number, box and paperwork however it’s missing the rear sights….. does anyone happen to know how much a vintage set costs?

I picked this up for $650….. I think I did good

When i called Smith and Wesson and asked them if they had a rear sight for a 29-3, they referred me to Bowen Classic Arms.
With a quick call, and a few measurements, I was sent a rear sight better than the original.

This is my first 44 magnum. I’m not really familiar with this model. What’s the going rate?

I paid just over $1000 for a 4” 29-3 and $1100 for a 6” gun. Thought I did ok

I don't remember how much I paid, but today's prices on their website says, $129 for an old style blank that must be drilled. Then $45 for having them drill it. You have to call em and give them the measurements on your gun.
You can choose if you want a white outline or plain too , I think.
I'm not affiliated with them. But they helped me out when I needed it.

I chose for them to drill it. And they send you a new screw also.

I was happy with the service.

Did the seller tell you why its missing the rear sight?

Was it scoped at one time? The downside to .44 Magnum is reloaders with bad habits will load it extra hot for Bigfoot Hunting and such.

$650 for a 29-3 with box and docs is almost unheard of these days, despite the missing sight. NICE snag !

In a nutshell, he says you need to look on the used market. May be worth trying Jack First or Numerich Gun Parts. Or post a Wanted to Buy in the Classifieds.
