Hi all,

I think I've decided on the 686 PC pro with the fluted barrel, but about that custom cylinder release, does that get in the way when gripping the gun?...Also some of the other posts on this gun are a few years old, do people still like it that bought one?

Custom cylinder release? The famous brake pedal release??

I think you mean the vented PC 686??

It's a good one .

Yep, that one...I just ordered...think I'm gonna sell off my R8 .357
It took me years to realize the 327 R8 I have is the best 357, 8 shot Smith and wesson makes! With 10,000 rounds in it, comparing it to several different models. In accuracy and weight.

Whoever you sell it to, will be , truly be a lucky person.

I would replace mine with a new one in a heartbeat. If something happened to it.

I'm gonna hold off until my 686 comes in...being a medium vs large frame I wanna compare the feel and grip on the two.

Let us know how you like it and maybe a range report. I always thought those newer 686 PC revolvers looked pretty good.

I will, but I'm a fairly random shooter...Heck a box of ammo can last me 6 months...lol...but I am anxious to get it in now.

I have a Pro Series 686-6. Like everything about it. Added a F.O. front sight since pics. One of my favorite range guns. Bob

I much prefer half lug vs whole lug guns...I just think they look better...I was actually trying to find a 5 inch half lug like you have there...is that an older gun?

yes, it is older.. a stocking dealer special... should have become a standard catalog item, but sadly never did.

Hi all,

So my 686 came in...I think it is a gorgeous gun, although some have said they aren't crazy about the design. Got a gun show in Fredericksburg, VA next Saturday, hope to find a red dot to mount and maybe change that front site.
