Welcome! The quoted serial number would be from a fixed sight K frame. Is this from a model 10/12/13/64/65 or a typo?

I've just recently gotten into firearms and really like revolvers in general but especially the old smiths. My best friend has one his grandfather passed down. I was asking for info on his. He read the description on the gun wrong im assuming. After taking a second look it is indeed a model 10. I know it's hard to value without pics. I'm mostly interested in the time frame it was built. If you have an average value that's be great also.

condition, orig. grips and barrel length are everything on model 10's since there are tons of them around...pics are needed....fun to shoot .38's

The serial number puts it as made in 1975, but its official age (ship date) may have been that year or the next.

A thinner, tapered barrel would make it a model 10-5 and a heavy barrel a 10-6 (but this should be stamped on the frame under the barrel, visible with the action open).

A value would be between $300-500, depending on condition.
