Smith Box Question

OK, I just got a minty Pre 14 with no box. Serial is K272xxx, puts it as a 1956 gun. I need to find a period correct box, am I looking for a blue or gold box??

Good question have to look but my first guess is a gold box

The style below is what S&W used after the gold box era. There is also some variation in the color of this style, but with the same silver colored trim. They usually had the model of the gun, along with barrel length, etc. printed on one end. These seem to have started about the time the "fifth" screw was deleted from the top of the side plate.

I have a dark blue/black box for a heavy masterpiece that is K224xxx and a blue box that is K302xxx. I would think yours might be a little late for the gold box.
