Smith mod. 41

I have a Mod 41 Smith that I bought some years back because it had a sporter weight barrel on it. I am curious as to when it was made. It is an early one , with no dash behind the Mod number. The serial number is 23938. Could anyone here help me with this ?

Mod 41 mag date

My S/N 46xx lettered to March 1958. I would think a S/N in the 23,000
range would be early 1960’s. The A series starting around 115000 started in
1970. i am sure someone will have a letter on a close S/N that will provide
you with a better date. Willyboy

WillyBoy is very close on his dating of the barrel for you. My 1958 M41 is marked 12304 so it won't be too far behind mine in production. Probably one of the near 1st special order barrels made.

Model 41,serial # 11319 shipped Sept. 1958. Here's a production list I found that puts yours in the latter part of 1959 but only a letter will tell for sure.
