First of all I appreciate any feed back on how to fire LR from my smith 48 22 magnum will a LR cylinder work etc.

The .22 WMR uses .224 and the LR uses .223 bullets, and some state their interchangeable cylinder guns don't work well with .22 LR, but yours might. Others here can expand upon this.

A friend of mine has a 48 & recently investigated getting a 22LR cylinder for it, with no luck. I think he's considering trading it for a model 17 in 22LR.
