smith&wesson 357

S&W 686-1

i was firing a 357 reloaded ammo.can anyone here post a pict showing the firing pin bushing on their 686?just want to compare with mine, i think it was realy set back as shown in the picture.

Here are pictures of my revolver after the modifications were completed by Smith & Wesson.

Since this is a safety issue, S&W may pay the freight to/from the Philippines. If they do, be sure to remove your grips before shipping (S&W does not need them) and do not send in any boxes, vapor paper, tools, etc. Past forum posts from other forum members have reported that they are either lost or trashed. A soft gun rug and bubble wrap will work just fine.

they acknowledge my email and sent this reply

That's S&W's standard initial response to a CS email question. You should receive an email addressing your concern in a few days. I've sent the 686-1 I referred to earlier and another S&W. both times what you received was the initial response

There are other threads on this subforum that describe the replacement work, there was one about 8 months ago that was very good. I suggest you search the forum for "686 bushing recall"

From those threads it appears special tools are required to seat the bushing.

Hello big moose

This post is unrelated to this blog but I didn't know how to contact you. A few years ago you posted a blog pertaining to a S&W .38 that was stamped LVRR. I'd love to speak to you about this gun and would like to know if you are still in contact with the owner. My e mail is [email protected].

Thank you,

Daniel Granato

Take it to a factory certified Smith armorer and you do not have to send it in. He will do the recall right there. Had 3 done at one time. There is probably one near you.
