Helping friend. He would like to know what would be the correct firing pin protrusion on 686-3 Target Champion.

After searching few forums, I found that forum members recommend protrusion from .050"-.053" to .055"-.060".

What would be factory standard? Unfortunately, I do not have J. Kuhnhausen book about S&W revolvers, to see what he recommends.

I would appreciate if somebody could take a snapshot with dimension from one of relevant manuals, and post it here, or just post the link, so I can forward it to a friend.

Thanks

Kuhnhausen's recommendation is ".050" minimum (.055" min is better), and .062" maximum."

NOTE: I have no idea what the factory protrusion spec is, and whether or not the Kuhnhausen specification listed above conforms to the factory spec.

My stock firing pin was short, so I installed the Apex tactical firing pin.$15.95, free shipping, lifetime warranty. :)
