I don't know if anyone is interested, but winter is approaching and some of us will need a fairly decent pair of boots to help us through the rough stuff. I stumbled on several pairs of Smith & Wesson licensed boots on Amazon.com. The price isn't bad and they appear to have reasonably good customer reviews. I bit the bullet and purchased a pair of the 6" ones. They have lace up fronts with zippers on the side. When zipped up, there's a velcro flap that protects the zipper tab from snagging. I must say that I'm very pleased with them.

Here is the web page: [ame="https://www.amazon.com/Smith-Wesson-Breach-Tactical-Side-Zip/dp/B01L9U5DJM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480763802&sr=8-1&keywords=smith%2Band%2Bwesson%2Bboots&th=1"]Amazon.com: Smith & Wesson Breach 2.0 Men's Tactical Side-Zip Boots: Shoes[/ame]

They offer several different styles. The 6" version is just right for me because of a medical condition. I've been wearing them at home to break them in, and find them to be quite comfortable. The ones I'm wearing have YKK brand zippers, which work smoothly.

I'd buy them again.

Those look good and at a good price. I just paid more for a simple pair of walking shoes. :o

Nice looking boots at a fair price. Never did understand why boots that have laces also have a zipper?? Who came up with that idea? Why not just use the zipper?

I believe the theory is that you can tighten or loosen the laces to your comfort. Then, you don't have to mess with them, tying and untying. Just use the zipper and you consistently have the proper fit. Plus, you can wear them and take them off in a matter of seconds.

True. But, the trade off is free shipping and no sales tax.

If you're a member of Amazon Prime sending stuff back is easy. They recommend saving the packaging and reusing it to send your purchase back. They send you return label via the interweb and drop your return in a UPS box and you get your refund credited to your card in 2-3 days. I've sent a couple pair of boots back with no issues. I apparently live in a state with an Amazon warehouse so I gotta pay tax on Amazon purchases.

BTW. The box the boots came in, has an eight inch in diameter S&W logo. I cut it out and mounted it on the face of a clock. IMHO it looks pretty cool.

I purchased a pair of S&W boots, exactly like this one, zippers and all, about a year ago. 3 months back I went to put them on and the soles split and cracked. No abuse, no chemicals, just a bad rubber composite.

MORAL OF THE STORY ... if they are made in CHINA ... buy at your own risk. $20 more and you can get the same boots made by one of several US Govt Suppliers. They are less likely to fall apart.

I'm sorry to hear that. The numerous reviews posted on the web site were positive.

I'm splitting hairs. The ones I have are not made in China. They came from Viet Nam.
