I walked into the local Gunshop a few months ago had a look around at the small glass case and didn't see what I had walked into the shop to find.
I talked with the owner and after a few minutes of conversation I walked out with a payment slip for a Smith&Wesson Governor (limited funds being what they are I had to put it on lay away) I have been counting down the days, and have kept up the payments (I've been chomping at the bit to be completely honest).
I can't wait until I make the final payment and am able to walk out with the second part of my carry combo.
I chose the Smith&Wesson Governor due to the features it has,and because I have always been a Smith&Wesson revolver fan (some might say "Snob"),the main reason for my choice being the S&W Gov. is the fact that it is a six shooter instead of a five shot wheelgun.
Because it can hold and shoot six of the 2-1/2 inch federal buckshot loads,it fits in very well with my Mossberg 18.5 inch barreled 500E Pump shotgun.
The shotgun started out as a wood stocked 50104 field model, and after doing a bit of research I picked up another Mossberg that holds the same ammount of ammo in the magazine tube (Mossberg 50455 Model Cruiser) after a barrel swap, the DFG Mk-1 was born, and it has quickly become my favorite Long arm (Except for the S&W 15-22 that is).
The DFG Mk-1 and Smith&Wesson Governor should perform very well in the Personal/Home defense role.
They share the same ammo and in the same ammount.
I feel rather good about this, and for S&W Governor owners out there that would like a reliable long gun to go with their revolver, please feel free to pick up a Mossberg model 500E.
