I have a Pro Series CORE. Very accurate, nice trigger and shoots par with any of my Sigs which cost way more money. I really think the Pro series is a great pistol, and very reasonably priced. Mark

1500+ rounds thru my compact 9 w/ no issues, and my newer full size 9 feels perfect in my hands (nicely balanced for me).
I found both have solid pricing, and very good ergonomics. And as an added bonus they are really fun to shoot.

I have owned the M&P 9mm, Performance 9mm, 5" barrel. Not basic 9mm and not 9 CORE. I love the pistol! Have run 1,000's of rounds through it...no mal-functions of any kind. Constant, consistent smooth cycling; easy take down. Relatively lightweight, with stock, smooth 4.5 pd trigger pull. You will not go wrong with this choice. If you enjoy target shooting or tactical shooting, you might look at the 9mm ported pistol. Lessens recoil, but more importantly, keeps the front site in alignment for follow up shot. That model does now come with adjustable trigger and CORE sight enhancement feature. A slight cost addition but I think very much worth it. Good Luck!

I bought an M&P C.O.R.E. 9MM a couple of months ago and liked it so much I bought another M&P 9MM and an M&P .22; I love them all. The C.O.R.E. comes out of the box with a great trigger, the M7P 9MM comes with a pretty good trigger but I like tinkering and put an Apex action/trigger enhancement in it and that trigger is now a bit better than the C.O.R.E.. I'm a big Kimber fan and now the M&P is right up there, great gun, buy one, or two, or three. The only issue with them is they are extremely addictive, so guard your bank account.

I have M&P9,9c, and Shield. No problems with any of them. Love them. Also have Glock 43. Shield out shines it.

Got the FS 9, FS 40 and FS 45-all great guns! No issues with any of them. The 45 is a 2007, the 40 a 2010 and the 9 the only one I bought new is a 2013. Oh, and just recently added the Shield 40 which is a 2014 model. And then there's the SD9VE and SD40VE; can't leave them out!

You know I tend to follow the same pattern. I carry my .45 in the summer for the stopping power and my 9 in the winter because (I think) a 9 has more penetration power through winter coats and clothing in general. I welcome comments on this.
M&P Pro 5"
I have the M&P Pro with the 5" barrel. I also installed the Apex FSS trigger kit and it's a sweet shooter. This is by far the most accurate handgun I've owned and I can run any type of ammo through it. If I could only have one handgun I think I would choose this one and I do have some other nice guns including a Colt Goldcup .45 Match Champion and some S&W .357s. Accurate, reliable and great capacity (I can use the 17 round magazines). What else could you want. Regards, Elliot45

I own a M&P 9mm full size, M&P 40 compact and a M&P Shield 9mm. Well over 1,000 rounds through my M&P 9mm full size with no issues. (also over 1,000 rounds through my Shield and probably 200 through my 40c - no issues with either of them!) And half of those rounds through my M&P 9 FS were various hollow points. In addition, I've owned the M&P 9 FS for 2 years and have not cleaned or oiled it once... not even when I first took it out of the case. Yeah, I know... shame on me... but my point is, I think that's a testament to what well built handguns the M&P line are!

as one in my 50's who's only been shooting for less than 3 years, and my 9's less than 2; i can say in my opinion that the full size 9 is a perfect all around handgun. For a relative newb i consider myself to be a decent shot and i'm still learning, but the fs9 is more accurate than i'll ever be. I just ran thru 150 rounds yesterday, each mag bringing a smile to my face.
The pic w/ the mag was 7 yds, the one w/ my fs was 30 rounds fired pretty quickly at 8 yds (i like to end my range visit with some playtime lol). Just showing these to give someone considering these the idea that in the hands of someone with real experience, i can imagine how nice they really are.

I guess I will buck the trend...
In 2013, I surveyed the SFA market and bought an M&P FS9. Shot 3,000+ rounds through it at the range or in class. I added an Apex kit and 10 8 FO.
As I got better shooting, I had some odd experiences of larger groups beyond 10 yards.
Anyways, I did another look at the SFA marketspace this year, and bought an HK VP9. In most every respect I use for evaluating a handgun, it is a better pistol "for me".
My M&P now serves only as HD pistol, loaded with Speer GD 124 +p's wearing a TLR-1.
So, my opinion is that today, there are at least three better plastic SFA pistols out there in the sub $600 market, introduced after 2013; any one of which would interest me more that buying a new M&P FS9 (HK VP9, Walther PPQ, Sig P320).
Just my $0.02. Don't hate me.

I tried the Glock 43 and Shield before buying and I picked the Shield. The small grip had me using too much trigger finger on the Glock. I like the Shield, it shot better for me. I tell people, guns are like religion, everyone has their own belief. What works for one person may not for the other. I liked the ability to "rent" several types of guns before I purchased one.

Usually the firearm you dont like, is the last one you would carry for self defense (assuming HD with Gold Dots means a carry weapon, I can seldom figure out the meaning of so many initial letters replacing the words. 45 ACP is OK though)
I own a compact and coach a kids team that uses full size M&Ps - all have been reliable and accurate. I've probably seen 30,000 rounds fired in the 9mm guns. The M&P 22 guns will jam when dirty. The kids love the light recoil of the 22 but coaches love the 9's because they never malfunction.

The subsitution of: Initinalism for words normally used in posts, makes it easier for the poster because the entire word or even abbreviation of the words are not spelled out. Familiar words can be denoted by the substitution of an upper case letter.( ie. EDC- Every Day Carry.) Initialisms are usually written in upper case. This helps the reader understand that it is an Initinalism.

On the topic, anyone else seen some of the recent online postings elsewhere by Randy Lee of Apex about his new fitted barrels for the M&P9? He's indicated that they are seeing crazy accuracy, something like 1/3 inch groups at 25 yards from a rest, if i recall correctly.
That would be...amazing...

The M&PFS9 is a beautiful pistol. I have one and I love shooting it. Fortunately I have a membership at the LGS&R so I get to go at least 3-4 times a month. I have put over 1200 rds. through mine. Mostly I shoot the Shield9.

I said the only thing wrong with the M&P9 is it will take you broke; I just ordered my 5th one in the last 3 months (dont tell my wife, she doesn't know the difference, they all took the same to her). So I have the .22 which is a great little gun, a 4.25" CORE 9MM, 4.25" Pro 9MM, 4.25" (I guess standard 9MM M&P) and on the way is a 5" Pro . Love those M&P's
