Hello. Thanks for you response and welcome. I wanted to post photos but was unable. I'll look at it again and see if I can figure it out.

I have a nice Mdl. 60 from 12/83, ADK****, but not a Jovino square butt. Post some pictures! And welcome to the forum![/QUOT
Hope these go through.

Welcome!

By report the original run of these was 1000, with about two-thirds 3" SB and one-third 2" SB frames. They are seen more frequently than this number suggests so other dealer/distributors may have ordered more. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.

Nice package. Also one of my favorites.

Here are mine and an excerpt about the model(s) from one of S&W Historian Dr. Roy Jinks' letters.

Here is a 3" Model 60 SB with an AEV prefix. No box or letter, so I can only guess that it was part of the second group ordered by John Jovino.

That's why I put the Target stocks on my round butt J Frames. I just shoot better with a Sq butt grip.
RB Frames seem to offer the most options when it comes to grips.

J-Frame grips have often been the source of frustration for me. I am an average-size everything person with oversized hands and fat fingers (literally and figuratively). I am thinking of starting a collection and calling it "Grips that have not worked for me..." ;):D

Having said that, the oversized grips that cover the entire backstrap and move the palm of my hand back from the trigger seem to work best, or "least worst". Unfortunately they are seldom the best looking. The rubber Pachmayr grips in the last pic, the type everyone loves to hate, actually work pretty well, especially when shooting any of the modern defensive ammo rounds intended for short barrels... and you can buy a set on ebay for under $20. Same grip the OP shows in some of his pics at the top of this thread.

A few pics from my most recent round of grip comparisons:
(the ss SB frame is the same gun I posted above)
