Recently there was an online auction for a 32 S&W barrel that's 1 3/4" long and is for the first model Safety Hammerless. Have never seen one like it before. Interesting that the patent roll mark was cut short. Looks like another unfinished barrel.

Had some free time this morning and pulled out my factory lettered 2 inch 32 SH with serial number 86xxx. I never noticed that the patents were cut short on this gun. According to the letter this was one of the first production 2" guns to leave the factory. Looked at my blued 2 inch SH with serial number 88xxx and it to has the patent top line ending in Mass, which is another cut short patent. Guess that's the way they did it on the early guns. Makes me wish I would have bought this one too.
