Interesting...I have only heard one friend complain about a serrated trigger. He's an inveterate double action guy who never understood the value of a single action trigger. The guy can shoot any revolver double action better than most can single action, busts my chops all the time...I hate to see him wandering over to "try" out what I'm shooting, then make a monkey of me with my piece while shooting double action...at least some of the time.

I have a very early M&P 38sp target that has a checkered trigger, were any of the triple lock target guns fitted with such triggers?

Yes, checkered and grooved triggers were an option on TL Target models and pretty rare.

To be an original grooved or checkered trigger on a TL, the trigger must have a chafing bushing.

TL trigger width is .265' + or -, not .312" as stated in the SCSW.

Personally, never understood the reason for serrated triggers of any kind?!

They give you a bit more purchase in single action, but can be rough on the trigger finger. A wider target trigger feels lighter as well.

I prefer smooth triggers myself. I have ground the serrations off of many a trigger, both my handguns and for others. When I went to the police academy in '79, the firearms instructor preferred round butt .357s, loaded with .38 +P ammo, and smooth triggers. I happened to be carrying a M19 that I had round butted and fitted with a smooth .312" trigger.

Several of my fellow student cops decided they wanted smooth triggers also, so I took several of their weapons to the instructor's house and did some Dremel work on them. :)

Every time I've bought a revolver--I'm not a collector or investor--I've had a good smith polish and radius the trigger face. I just never have liked serrated triggers. They just don't feel right to me, especially on a DAO gun.
