I just got a nice 66-1 with 2.5inch barrel and would like to find a nice set of smooth wood magnas with the S&W logo. Does anyone know where is the best place to find these? Are they still made? By whom? THanks for any responses!

Put a WTB ad here on the forum....you could check Flea-Bay, but their prices seem way high to me....I might have a set of smooth RB magnas around here somewhere myself....

like these?

I got these at a local show. If this is what you are looking for, they shouldn't be too hard to find. I think that I paid too much for this set, but they are pretty :)

...they were so pretty in fact, that I pulled them off in favor of the factory checkered magna's and a Tyler grip adapter instead....those are in a box somewhere covered in tissue paper...

Who makes these?

Does anyone know if S&W made these smooth wood magnas or if they were "factory" on any of their guns? Are they still made?

The grips that I pictured are genuine S&W production....I believe that they came on the 'Lady Smith' line of revolvers. Maybe one of the grip gurus knows more than I?

These are factory original on my model 65-5:

These look as if they may have been made by Altamont, who have made stocks for S&W (and may still do so)

Altamont offer them plain or checked with or w/o medallions. All the wood they use is the plywood-like laminate AFAIK.

I believe the rosewood plastic laminate Lady Smith stocks were produced by The Smith & Wesson Grip Co./Ace (from what I understand, a short-lived in-house supplier operated by a former S&W employee). The identifier as such is the screw and escutcheons, the same S&W has always used.

Altamont came along a little bit later as the OEM manufacturer and uses their own different screw and escutcheons.

Those SAFireman have are the real deal, original S&W factory-produced wood stocks, and you'll likely pay a premium when you find them for sale.

I have two sets, older stocks with black washers. One for a K frame & one for an N...

... and I've only seen the K frame round butt here on the forum.
