I'd like to get a shorter barreled 45 Colt, and am wondering if anyone has figured a way to put a 2 or 3" barrel on a 45 Colt Mountain Gun. Experiences or references welcomed.
Thanks,
Mike B.

Instead of destroying the value of a Mtn Gun, sell or trade it for a 3" 625..........(-_-)

Mike,
I can't post a link to a live acution, but if you look at GB and search for 625, you 'll find a 2" 45 colt S&W.

Pricey, but it is a 2" (actually a 1.88" barrel).

As for finding a 2" or 3" to put on your Mtn gun, they would be tough to find. Especially the 2" as this would likely be a custom barrel.

Numrich has some 2" barrels in stock. I'm considering fitting one to a spare 1917 frame I've got. For lock-up you will want to add a ball detent since there wont be a locking underlug (just a shroud).

Thanks all. I want a 45 Colt carry piece with the Model 66 2.5" configuration. Have a 3" M625 but that is in ACP. Don't care for the lock model 625s with the stubby barrel. Chris, I will take a look at those 2" barrels. Also looking for a good New Service to cut down to a Fitz configuration, sans the cutaway trigger guard.
Being retired now, I have too much time to dream...........
