IMHO the classic snubby the S&W Model 15 with a 2" barrel, this is a 15-3 with some cut down grips I had in the junk drawer. Pretty nice

These two are hard to beat also, a Model 36-9 and oops how'd that Ruger get in there.

I note that you did put the Smith higher than the Ruger!

J or K frame with a 1 & 7/8th, 2 or 2 & 1/2 inch barrel is a "snub nosed" revolver in my book.
With the nod going to the J frame.

Just My .02 but:

For a J frame 2" or smaller (1.875"):

A K frame: 2.5" or 2":

For a Ruger K frame equivalent, I'd consider 2.75"

For an N frame, I'd consider 3" or smaller:
