I bought a used car yesterday. It is a NYPD trade in. I hear there's a bunch on the market now. I chose this one from a display of 6 at a local GS. It looks unissued / carried $450. Blackened stainless steel frame / slide. Weighs 4 oz. more than my mod 640 w/ both loaded.

Nice looking gun! If it's anything like the K-40 Covert that I had, make sure no one is standing behind you to the right when you shoot it. Mine launched empties into the next County.

Only 4 more oz for a few extra rounds in an easier to shoot package. Assuming reliability is there, a nice step up. I have a CM9 that is similarly just a little heavier than my 340M&P/LCR but holds 2 more and is noticeably easier for me to shoot well.

I suspect you'll like your Kahr. Did it come with two magazines or one? I bought a CW40 a while back and after working out an initial glitch it has performed flawlessly. Frankly I kind of wish I'd went with a 9mm version but I was looking for an excuse to experiment with reloading 40 S&W. The only warnings I've seen that are consistent are to take care when reassembling that you do not bend the mag catch spring and learn to depress the mag release when inserting a magazine.

Only one mag came with gun. I had an MK9 many years ago. It used 6 rd mags but I remembered having a 7 rd for it. Sure enough I found it in my box o mags. Thanks for advice on assembly and mag release. This gun was made in '05. My understandiing is they didn't meet New York's trigger specs. This one seems to have an Elite trigger.

.40 is a great choice for self defense. Unfortunately I have arthritis or something in both hands where the thumb meets the hand. .40 is no longer an option for me.

Don't get me wrong I like the 40 for its intended purpose of a CCW pistol and find it easier to reload than 9x19. However a few weeks after I bought the CW40 I found a S&W 6906 languishing at a LGS, which I bought for $300 OTD. After she fired both the CW40 and the 6906 at our next range session my wife adopted the 6906. Perhaps if I had purchased a CW9 instead I would still have the 6906.

NYPD wanted a 13lb trigger on a gun that size?!:eek: How many on here think they could accurately shoot a gun with a DA trigger that heavy. Veteran 1895 Nagant pistol owners are exempt from this survey.;)

A 13lb trigger means no accidential discharge can happen, you just need two fingers to pull it? I haven't gotten that far into the plastic pistols yet but the kahr CZ75, CZ85DB & the Cz82/83 pistols have been flawless too. The Auto Ordnance Army WW2 copy 1911a1 is another good one from Kahr too. This new company is focused on quality for sure.
