So this Elephant was walking down my street

Words can not describe how nice those grips are!! I must be going to the wrong shows........never seen a set of target ivory grips except on this forum. Thanks for sharing and again, congratulations.

Did you have them made and furnish the large ones, or did someone produce them like that and you grabbed them? Just asking.

I bought the grips at shows.
I had TimB1 reshape them, make pre-war stock circles, make or install S&W type escutcheons and screws, and fit the pre-war meds that I supplied.
Sal sent Guido by, and I decided to sell them.....
:D

" He bought the grips at shows"

It must be good to have been going to shows for the past 100 years or so.
Long before the price of Ivory rose into the stratosphere.

Some of us remember when Sal first started.
Now he's surpassed us all.

Holy Cats! That's a nice bunch!

We need to clarify some of that. First, when Lee started going to gun shows, Mastodon ivory wasn't fossilized, it was running down the street.

As for the comment about "that's a nice bunch", the owner has heard it often about his grips. No one has ever accused Sal or Guido of being part of any "nice bunch." Not nice, just effective.

HEY!!!... I effectivley resemble that remark...;).. :D

And as for " Surpassing?? .. " I'm just a lucky accumulator.. once in a while in the right place.. :)..
There are waaay too many members here who really know their stuff and are true students of the history of our hobby..

Thank you all for your kind comments...

I hunted these down some time back. Only wanted one pair, but, they had to be the right ones. I got what I wanted.
Mine are sitting pretty on a virgin 'S' numbered Model 29-2 gun and together they are what I had hoped they would be.

That picture of the trio is quite eye catching. Wonderful.

Thanx for the pictures.
